Statewide Conversation: Vitality, June 17

We are kicking off a summer series of MWP Conversations on June 17, 5-6:30pm. These will largely be listening sessions, inspired by storytellers featured in our June “Reconstruction” magazine. We invite any participants from around the state to join in the conversation.

These conversations are designed to enhance connection, creativity, and solidarity … a kind of story discussion group (that doesn’t require reading an entire book). It will be helpful if you read these June stories that will spark discussion:

Some questions we will be exploring together:

  • Which of the three stories resonated with you? Do you know why?
  • How do you define vitality in your community? (As we recover from pandemic isolation, what lessons can you share about how connection and isolation were defined for you?)
  • What do we need, or what has made the difference, in realizing the potentials of community?

July 21: Healthy Ecosystems — a few women around the state featured in our July “Earth & Air & Water & Fire” issue will kick off our next conversation

August 16: Healing Trauma — women statewide discussing the restorative practices and needs that will help the magazine decide on storytelling in the October “Vulnerability & Strength” issue about gender-based violence.

These discussions will help us generate story ideas for future themes.

These three forums are hosted by Minnesota Women’s Press thanks to the underwriting support of Valvoline Instant Oil Change across Northern Minnesota, a uniquely woman-owned business supporting women and families across the region.
