Less than 24 hours after roughly 40,000 people gathered for a peaceful protest through downtown Minneapolis, and thousands gathered for a peaceful protest at the airport, ICE agents shot and killed another Minnesotan who was not endangering them. By 7pm, neighborhoods around the city were holding outdoor candlelit vigils.
On the morning of January 24, Alex Pretti, 37, helped a woman who had been pushed to the ground by ICE. He was filming agents when he was surrounded by a group of agents, pushed to the ground, and shot multiple times. He was a 2011 graduate of the University of Minnesota and worked at the Veterans Administration hospital as an intensive care nurse.
