Yoga Workshop – Divine Masculine & Feminine – Connecting Structure with Feeling

November 19 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

- $65

This 3-hr workshop contains a brief and accessible asana class to warm up the body and breath using simple ergonomic movement, followed by an exploration of how the concepts of “divine masculine” and “divine feminine” show up in the body and our yoga asana practice and lives. We will explore the structure of common yoga poses, followed by diaphragmatic breathing & resonance techniques that help us to unlock a sense of power and agency. Vocalization exercises will be a part of this workshop, and are an effective way to release mind thought patterns and relax the body resulting in calm and focused attention, as well as energy and presence. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and hands-on adjustments and breathing cues will be practiced. Be ready to make some gentle movement and noise!

Yoga offers us a system to organize our lives. During this workshop, we will unpack our yoga asan practice to understand what is foundational, what is personally important, and how to tailor our practice to serve our bodies and lives through a simple dualistic lens of masculine & feminine. Yoga has ancient roots, and now thanks to modern somatic science, psychology, and lesser-known Tantric philosophy, we understand the physical, mental and emotional benefits of a relaxed body. This unique approach to teaching the physical practice of yoga asana (poses) and pranayama (breathing) facilitates an opening of soft tissues of the breathing mechanism that creates space for a relaxed, resonant body, and a powerful, strong practice.

This workshop is led by Calley Bliss (RYT-200, Reiki Level I; Bachelor of Music – University of North Texas) began her career as a session and live vocalist based in Dallas/Ft. Worth, and later New York City. Always a “studio rat,” she refined her ears and voice in jazz, pop, and soul with music groups, recording studios, and engineers across the US, the Caribbean, and the UK. Now primarily working in voice over, she has worked with clients such as The US Open, Chase Bank, Colgate-Palmolive, The Atlantic, The YMCA, and General Mills. Yoga has always been Calley’s “drug of choice,” to balance the demands of her performing career. After working in entertainment, production, education, and wellness, Calley creates programs to facilitate confidence in movement and speech utilizing the resonant relationship between body, mind, and voice. With simple exercises in movement, breath, and with a little willingness to sound or look silly and step into creativity, amazing results can be achieved for all who are willing to explore the realm of the subtle body.
