MIGIZI is inviting all community members to come walk with them on May 28th from their previous space at 3017 27th Ave S. Minneapolis to their new building at 1845 E. Lake St. Minneapolis (formerly Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly). They will begin their walk with a gathering at 3017 27th Ave S. at 11:00AM to then finish their event with food at 1845 E. Lake St. by 1:00PM.
There will be remembrance for the life of George Floyd, a memorial for MIGIZI’s previous space, and time to share about MIGIZI’s future.In May 2020, the murder of George Floyd had created a deep pain within our communities. On May 29, 2020, MIGIZI’s building caught on fire due to the proximity of neighboring fires and fell shortly after. MIGIZI wishes to bring the community together for a walk down East Lake street in remembrance of George Floyd and to memorialize their space as they acknowledge the past year of challenges, and just as importantly, look ahead to a time of growth and prosperity.
There will be a program prior to the walk at 3017 27th Ave S. where speakers and leaders will have the opportunity to speak, sing, pray, and say a blessing for MIGIZI’S new space at 1845 E. Lake St. which plans to open in May 2022.
