Being aware of the challenges of trying to do that, I said I hoped we could last a year. Glenda said, 'Well, we have to last at least 10 years.' And now, 40 years later, Minnesota Women's Press is still here, doing incredible work and taking on all kinds of interesting new challenges.

Honoring the Legacy of Rep. Mary Murphy
Mary Murphy was Minnesota's longest-serving woman legislator — and the state's second-longest-serving legislator — who served 46 years, from 1977 to 2023. A special post-humous "Mary Murphy Day" was held at the State Capitol April 21, 2025.

For 2025 coverage, Minnesota Women’s Press earned a community leadership award, three photography awards, and four editorial awards, including for coverage of social issues and for our Spring 2025 “Know Your Rights” special section supported by Unidos MN. Our publisher was named Journalist of the Year by Violence Free Minnesota for gender-based violence coverage.
