“Breaking the Binary” discussion

The “Celebrating Badass Minnesota Women” event was underwritten by Minnesota Women’s Press sponsorship partners: Vote. Run. Lead., Valvoline Instant Oil Change across Northern Minnesota, Seward Co-op, and Global Rights for Women.

Minnesota Women’s Press hosted a Facebook Live event on June 8, 5pm, with Magers & Quinn bookstore for Pride Month. Ellie Krug (see related story) and Ali Sands (see related story), shared a reading and discussion about the tempo of the times. [Erin Maye Quade of Gender Justice was unable to join us as scheduled.]

Minnesota Women’s Press editor moderated the discussion about the struggles for justice and security, the tendency for binary thinking, and where we find hope and resilience in the sorrows and pain. Why do people have such a desire to categorize everyone into one of two things? What can we do to challenge that thinking?
