Climate Change: I've Changed My Light Bulbs. Now What?
Building of Friends School of Minnesota
1365 Englewood Ave., St. Paul
On Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 10 am to noon, Or Emet, the Minnesota Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, will host Paul Thompson and friends, committed leaders and activists from Citizens Climate Lobby, Cool Planet, Minnesota Interfaith Power & Light, and MN350.
These groups are Minnesota organizations advocating the need to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, the scientific estimate of the safe limit to support life as we know it. During the presentation we will learn about the basics of climate science and aspects of sustainable behavior that could turn difficult relationships into opportunities for partnership and respectful dialogue.
The program is free and open to the public. It will be at 1365 Englewood Ave., St. Paul, near Hamline University (in the building of the Minnesota Friends School). Please enter north entrance by parking lot on N. Albert St.
Paul will use elements of the SPEAK UP!! climate leadership training. Together, we will practice having effective conversations about our changing climate, leading to meaningful action and behavior change. People will leave the session with tools and resources to build confidence and courage to address the most important issue our world community has ever faced.
Since his time in the Peace Corps (Malaysia, 1971-73) Paul has traveled, worked and “played around the world, spreading the gospel of Frisbee” and healthy living. His discovery of himself as a global citizen has inspired him to use his energy to impact political action, first on ending hunger and poverty, and recently shifting gears to take on the climate crisis.
