We offer several internships that can be an opportunity to sample working in a field, learn valuable practical skills and build a resume in a feminist business environment. Internships are unpaid. Unless otherwise indicated, internships are part time, daytime, weekday hours for a minimum of 2 months.

Advertising Sales Internship Available year round
Position Description: Ongoing/rotating internship that may include pilot promotional advertising sales projects, market research, client research, working with existing clients and prospects, participation in staff and departmental meetings and other sales support activities or special events/projects.
Interns who have worked with us in the past have received "hands-on" experience that we have been able to tailor to meet the needs and interests of the applicant and our needs and projects at that time. We have a revolving internship program so that the exact job description may vary depending on the time of the year and interests/skills of the applicant.
Interns will have the opportunity to work with each of five experienced sales professionals on our staff. They will have hands-on work on real projects.
Hours: 20 hours per week, weekday days, minimum 2 months.

Position Description: Ideal for students or those considering a career change; includes working with our bimonthly publication, BookWomen, and with other books-related endeavors. Great opportunity for hands-on experience. Sensitivity to women's issues and experience working in a feminist environment are key. Summer internships available. Deadline for applications: April 1.

Position description: Activities may include writing (both regular features that appear in each issue and occasional stories), research, editing, database management and other special projects. Interns also participate in regular staff and departmental meetings.
We attempt to tailor the experience to meet the needs and interests of the applicant and our needs and projects at a given time. Interns will have the opportunity to work with the editor, assistant editor and copy editor, and will likely leave with a substantial number of clips for their portfolio.

Position Description: Primary responsibility is to design, produce and modify print ads in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications: Attention to detail. Experience with Adobe InDesign. Knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop helpful. Applicants will be asked to bring work samples or a portfolio to the interview.
